They Do It in the Dark

They come out at night. Always have.

Darkness is their comfort zone. It’s their hiding place, their strategy, their disguise. The schemes, the secrets, the alliances, they don’t take place in broad daylight. They happen in windowless rooms, shadowed hallways, coded emails, and secret conferences that we never get invited to.

And why? Because they know something even if they won’t admit it:
Truth thrives in the light. Lies die in it.

Jesus said it flat in John 3:19–20:

“This is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were(are)evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.”

That Greek word for “exposed” is elenchthē. It’s the same root as elegchō, meaning to be laid bare, convicted, shown for what it truly is. That’s the real fear. Not being caught. Being revealed.

It’s why the serpent didn’t tempt Eve at high noon. He waited until she was separated. Quiet. Distracted. Alone.
It’s why Judas left the supper table and “it was night” (John 13:30).
It’s why Jesus was arrested not in the Temple, but in a dark garden, far from crowds. He even called them out on it in Luke 22:52–53:

“Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs? When I was with you day after day in the Temple, you did not lay hands on Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

“Your hour.”
Just a sliver.
A borrowed hour on God’s eternal clock.
But their time is running out.

Because while they plot and twist and move in the shadows… God sees every bit of it.

Psalm 139:11–12 says:

“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,’ even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.”

This world may be fooled. YHWH is not.

He doesn’t just see in the dark—He rules over it. He invented light. He defines truth. And He made a promise long ago that nothing, absolutely nothing, done in secret would stay there.

Luke 12:2–3:

“Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in inner rooms will be proclaimed from the rooftops.”

That includes the backroom deals, the secret programs, the weather manipulation, the hush money, the buried files, and yes, even the untimely deaths of people who started saying just a little too much.

Prince Rogers Nelson and Michael Jackson. Both killed by fentinal. Prince never took elevators, yet that’s where he was found. Jackson’s doctor was told to overdose him. People mocked them. Said they were crazy, strung out, paranoid. But they weren’t? They knew the truth. They were trying to warn the world.
What if their eyes were open wide and the enemy (Satan) knew it?

The diverse political parties do it too. Businessmen do it.  But they won’t be able to hide much longer.

The pattern is old. Ancient, even.

The prophets who told truth were stoned.
Jesus Himself was murdered between two thieves and two malefactors.
Stephen was glowing with Holy Spirit light, and still, they gnashed their teeth and stoned him to death (Acts 7).

They always try to silence the ones who speak truth.
But truth doesn’t stay buried.

Ephesians 5:11–13:

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light.”

This isn’t just a warning. It’s a mandate.

You and I weren’t made to be silent. We weren’t made to be polite in the face of wickedness. We were made to shine. To burn. To uncover. To speak what others fear to say.
The darkness is counting on our silence.
But it won’t get it.

Because God is raising up voices that can’t be bought, silenced, or swayed.
And when the Light of the World splits the sky, the show’s over.

Malachi 4:1–2 tells us exactly how that day will go:

“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble… But for you who fear My Name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in His wings.”

Did you catch that?
The day will come like a furnace.
And what survives the furnace? Only what’s real. Only what’s righteous. Only what’s holy.

The rest? Gone like stubble.

We’re not afraid of exposure, they are.
We don’t run from the light, we’re drawn to it.
Because we know: the Judge of all the earth will do right (Genesis 18:25).

So let them slink through the night. Let them manipulate, lie, and spin.

The Light is coming.
And this time, it’s not just to expose them.
It’s to end it.

Revelation 19:11–16 describes the moment in full, thunderous glory:

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war… On His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”

You can’t hide from The King on a white horse.
You can’t lie to the One called Truth.
And you can’t stop what’s already written.

So we wait.
Not in fear.
Not in silence.

But in boldness, eyes wide open, watching the skies—not for planes or poisons, but for the return of our Champion.

Because He will shine, and every secret will scream in the light.

Even so, Come, Lord Jesus!

We’re not afraid of the dark anymore.
