“Does anybody really know what time it is?” The question lingers in the air, more than curiosity—it is a doorway, a small crack into eternity itself, into the rhythm of God’s sovereign plan. Even the most precise watch, yes, even a Rolex, cannot tell what time it really is. Clocks measure seconds, minutes, hours—they chart (chronos), the ordinary, sequential flow of events that humans can count, observe, and record. Yet (chronos) cannot measure the moments God ordains, the sacred (zeman), the (kairos) moments when heaven intersects with the temporal, when eternity touches our finite lives. My husband has said many times: “Even a Rolex won’t tell you what time it really is.” And he is right.
We see the house today; tomorrow, it may be gone. Seasons turn, calendars mark the years, yet the truth of what exists—the moment, the house, the season—remains eternal, unseen but lasting. This is the tension of time: what is fleeting to human eyes is permanent to God. (Nephesh), the living soul, moves in (chronos), yet (ruach), the Spirit, aligns with eternity. Every heartbeat, every breath, every glance is part of a rhythm we cannot fully measure, yet it is known to the One who holds all things in His hand.
Yeshua Himself understood this distinction. “My time has not yet come” (John 7:6). The world may perceive a moment, but God’s (kairos) is hidden. His timing cannot be forced. Often, we are called to wait, to watch, to trust the unseen rhythm of His hand. Every tick of a clock reminds us life moves forward, yet the moments He ordains are counted not in minutes but in eternity. Even as we try to hurry, even as we plan, even as our calendars overflow, God’s sacred moments arrive not by human measurement but by divine appointment.
Even science whispers of this eternal truth. Einstein showed that time is relative—clocks on satellites tick differently than clocks on earth. Quantum physics reveals that events are probabilistic, guided by laws we are only beginning to perceive. (Chronos) is local, human, observable. (Kairos) is universal, eternal, beyond measurement, beyond prediction. Every atom, every galaxy, every heartbeat moves within God’s orchestration. Consider the bending of light in space, the orbits of planets, the timing of rain falling exactly when seeds need it—the alignment of the cosmos and the precise unfolding of life is never random. God’s hand is in every particle, every rotation, every cosmic alignment.
Look to the natural world. Seeds lie under the soil, waiting in patient dormancy. Rain falls. The sun rises and sets. The stars dance in vast, intricate orbits. We measure days, months, years, yet the emergence of life, the first sprout, the alignment of planets, the turning of seasons—these unfold according to God’s perfect timing. A bud opens not when the calendar says, but when God’s appointed moment comes. The universe itself whispers of His precision. He governs both the predictable and the mysterious. Every moment is purposeful, deliberate, precise, yet unseen. Every tick of human instruments cannot measure it.
History itself testifies to God’s eternal rhythm. Nations rise and fall, empires flourish and crumble, leaders come and go. To human eyes, the world seems chaotic. Yet God’s purposes persist, unseen, unshaken. What seems delayed is never forgotten. What is hidden is never lost. The house may stand today and fall tomorrow, yet the truth of its existence remains. So it is with God’s works: unseen, eternal, perfectly timed (Ecclesiastes 3:11). What appears disorderly is in fact woven into the eternal tapestry, every thread measured, every moment orchestrated.
Time is not merely the measure of seconds and hours. It is a reflection of eternity within the temporal, a mirror of the divine in the fleeting. Scripture reminds us: “He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). And again: “The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). Even in the moments we perceive as brief, God sees the eternal pattern, the ultimate purpose, the divine weaving of each soul’s journey.
In our own lives, the tension between (chronos) and (kairos) is palpable. Days pass, seasons change, plans fail, people leave or are taken. Yet the eternal truth persists. God moves in ways our clocks cannot capture, in moments our calendars cannot hold. Every heartbeat, every rotation of the earth, every life event occurs within His sovereign orchestration. Consider the sudden blessing that arrives when least expected, the answer to prayer that comes after months of waiting, the people who enter our lives at the perfect juncture. These are not coincidences; they are God’s (kairos), His sacred appointments.
Even our emotions, our griefs, our joys are measured in His timing. The tear that falls, the laughter that echoes, the longing of a heart—all occur under His orchestration. Human perception may miss them, but God marks each. The rhythm of creation, history, and the soul flows together in His eternal design. He is weaving a tapestry whose threads are invisible to us, yet whose pattern is flawless. The house may fall. A season may pass. A year may fly by. Yet God’s eternal timing remains, precise, purposeful, and unfailing.
To live aware of God’s timing is to embrace patience, discernment, and faith. It is to recognize the sacred moments He places before us, often unseen, yet eternal. Even the most precise human instruments—from sundials to atomic clocks to Rolexes—cannot measure them. The house may stand today and fall tomorrow, yet the truth remains. So it is with God’s works: unseen, eternal, and perfectly timed. His timing shapes creation, history, and the deepest workings of our hearts.
We are invited to trust the unseen, to walk in faith, to live in awareness of His eternal rhythm. Every second counted by human clocks is a reminder to seek God’s (kairos), to live within His timing. Even as seasons pass, stars move, civilizations rise and fall, His work endures. His moments are purposeful. His truth flawless. His timing perfect. Every event, every encounter, every heartbeat exists within His eternal plan. We cannot rush it. We cannot measure it. We can only live within it, attuned to His sovereign rhythm, and let our lives reflect His perfect timing.
Let us be still and remember: the universe moves, history unfolds, and our lives progress not in random chaos, but within the hands of a God who ordains every sacred moment. The unseen truth endures. The eternal pattern persists. The house may crumble, the season may pass, the years may fly—but God’s (kairos) remains, eternal, precise, unfailing. The heartbeat of creation, the rhythm of history, the turn of every life is counted and ordered by Him.

Prayer:
Father God, teach us to live fully in Your timing. Help us to trust when the moments seem delayed, to see Your hand in the unseen, and to embrace the rhythm of Your eternal plan. Let our hearts align with Your (kairos), and may we walk in patience, faith, and discernment. Open our eyes to the sacred appointments You ordain, in nature, in history, in our lives, and in the depths of our souls. We surrender our clocks, our calendars, and our understanding to You, knowing Your timing is perfect, Your work flawless, and Your truth eternal. In Yeshua’s Holy Name, Amen Amen.
