The Hour Is Late: God Is Calling The Nations To Account
Like It Or Not, This Is God’s Truth.

There comes a time when people must stop looking at the condition of the world as though what is happening around them is merely another political disagreement, another change of government, another election, or another passing season of human history. There is a much greater matter before us. It is the matter of mankind’s relationship with almighty God, and whether people understand the seriousness of standing before him.
We are living in days when wickedness is increasingly defended, righteousness is increasingly opposed, deception is being embraced, and many people have become so accustomed to the things God condemns that they no longer recognize the danger of what they are accepting. People have learned to excuse what God calls sin, and some have even begun to celebrate it.
But God has not changed his mind. His standards have not changed. His righteousness has not changed. And his judgment has not disappeared simply because mankind would prefer not to hear about it.
We need to understand something very clearly. God does not need the permission of mankind to govern his creation. He does not need the approval of a president, a governor, a congress, a political party, or a nation. All authority ultimately belongs to him.
Daniel 2:21 tells us that God changes times and seasons, removes kings, and establishes kings. Human authority is not independent of the one who created mankind. Those who sit in positions of power may believe they have acquired their authority through their own strength, influence, wealth, or political accomplishments, but God remains sovereign over the affairs of men.
Daniel 4:17 tells us that the most high rules over the kingdom of mankind and gives authority to whom He wills. This declaration was made in connection with nebuchadnezzar, a powerful king who had to learn that his position did not make him greater than God.
Consider what that means for the world today. No election surprises God. No government takes him by surprise. No political movement is beyond his knowledge. No ruler can prevent him from accomplishing his purposes.
When God permits a ruler to rise, that ruler remains accountable to him. When God removes a ruler, no amount of human influence can prevent it. And when God allows a nation to experience the consequences of its choices, people should not automatically assume that everything is happening without his knowledge or authority.
We must also understand that God does not judge a government merely by the name it gives itself, the promises it makes, or the political party under which it operates. He examines righteousness, justice, truth, the treatment of the innocent, and the actions of those entrusted with authority.
Proverbs 14:34 tells us that righteousness exalts a nation, but sin brings disgrace upon any people. That is not a political slogan. It is a principle established by God.
And now i want you to consider something that is not merely a warning to individuals, but a warning to entire nations.
The nations that forget God
Psalm 9:17 declares: “the wicked shall return to sheol, and all the nations that forget God.”
The Hebrew expression kol-goyim shĕkheḥê elohim speaks of all the nations that forget God.
Think about those words. God does not limit this warning to one particular nation, one particular government, or one particular generation. The warning encompasses all nations that forget him.
What does it mean for a nation to forget God? It means that a people turn away from acknowledging him, disregard his righteousness, abandon his instruction, and conduct their affairs as though they are accountable to no higher authority.
A nation may retain its religious buildings, its religious language, and its references to God in its history, but that does not mean it is walking in his ways.
A nation can remember its religious heritage while forgetting the God who gave it.
And psalm 9:17 is not a verse we should read casually. It is a warning that the wickedness of nations does not escape God’s attention.
God can pluck up and destroy a nation
Now consider Jeremiah 12:16-17.
God speaks of nations that have taught his people to swear by baal. He says that if those nations diligently learn the ways of his people and swear by his name, acknowledging him as the living God, they will be established among his people.
But then comes the warning in verse 17. If they refuse to obey, God declares that He will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation.
Let that sink in.
The Hebrew wording uses the language of uprooting and destroying. God is speaking about his authority over nations and their accountability to him.
This is not a human threat. It is God’s declaration.
He offers the opportunity for nations to turn toward him, but He also makes clear that continued refusal to obey has consequences.
Notice something else. God does not say that a nation is protected from judgment because it has wealth, influence, military strength, or political power. None of those things can protect a nation from the judgment of almighty God.
And we should not overlook the fact that this passage includes mercy. God describes a way for those nations to learn his ways and acknowledge his name. He offers the opportunity for a different outcome.
But refusal has consequences.
God’s authority over the rise and fall of nations
Jeremiah 18:7-10 gives us another important declaration from God. God tells Jeremiah that whenever He speaks concerning a nation or kingdom about uprooting, tearing down, and destroying it, if that nation turns away from its evil, He will relent concerning the disaster He had spoken.
But He also gives the opposite situation. If He speaks of building up and establishing a nation, and that nation turns to evil and refuses to listen to his voice, He can reconsider the good He had intended for it.
This is a passage every nation should take seriously.
God is not obligated to continue blessing a nation that turns against his righteousness. Past blessings do not purchase permanent immunity from judgment.
Nor does God delight in destroying those who are willing to turn back to him. His desire is that people repent and live.
This is why we must never confuse his patience with approval.
God may allow time for repentance, but that does not mean He has abandoned his standards.
The perilous times God warned us about
Now i want you to consider another warning, one that speaks directly about the character of people during the latter days.
In 2 Timothy 3:1, Paul writes: “know this: in the last days, perilous times will come.”
The Greek word translated as perilous is chalepos (χαλεπός). It describes times that are harsh, dangerous, savage, difficult to endure.
But we must not stop at verse 1. We need to read what follows, because Paul describes the character of the people associated with these perilous times.
They will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient, unthankful, without natural affection, fierce, and without love for what is good. They will be betrayers, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. They will maintain an appearance of Godliness while denying its power.
Consider those words carefully.
These are not simply descriptions of unpleasant personalities. They describe a society in which selfishness, wickedness, violence, and the rejection of righteousness become increasingly evident.
And we need to recognize these characteristics wherever they appear. They can be found among ordinary citizens, criminals, political leaders, government officials, and even people who claim to represent God.
Paul is warning us about the condition of mankind. These perilous times will not be made dangerous by circumstances alone. They will also be dangerous because of the conduct and character of people.
And this brings us to something happening in our own country of America that deserves serious consideration.
California’s governor has announced the commutation of the death sentences of 548 condemned prisoners, changing those death sentences to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, subject to the required judicial approvals. This decision raises serious questions about justice, accountability, the protection of innocent people, and the responsibility of government toward the citizens it is supposed to serve. We should always remember the victims. We must remember their families. We must remember that behind every violent crime there are human lives that have been changed or destroyed. We cannot declare that every person whose sentence was commuted hates the public or will commit another violent act. But neither should society forget the seriousness of the crimes involved or dismiss legitimate concerns about public safety.
Mercy is important. But mercy must never become an excuse to disregard justice or the lives of innocent people.
God’s word concerning violence and the wicked
Psalm 11:5 declares that the Lord God examines the righteous and the wicked, and that He hates the one who loves violence.
The Hebrew word chamas (חָמָס) (hamas) describes violence, wrongdoing, and oppression. It is repeatedly associated with conduct that provokes God’s judgment.
God does not overlook violence. He does not forget the innocent who have suffered. He does not consider the shedding of human blood a trivial matter.
Genesis 9:6 establishes the seriousness of taking human life because mankind was made in the image of God.
Proverbs 6:16-17 identifies hands that shed innocent blood among the things God hates.
Psalm 10:2 also describes the wicked pursuing the poor and becoming caught in the schemes they devise. Throughout scripture, God warns that wickedness carries consequences, even when those committing it believe they have escaped accountability.
And here is something else we should understand: those who authorize, defend, excuse, or participate in injustice are also accountable to God.
Political authority does not excuse wrongdoing. A claim of compassion does not automatically make a decision righteous. A government cannot simply redefine what God calls evil and expect him to agree.
God’s judgment applies to the violent offender and to the official who perverts justice. It applies to those who commit wrongdoing and those who knowingly protect it.
Nobody gets a pass.
When a nation calls evil good and good evil
Isaiah 5:20 gives a warning that is particularly important in these days. Woe is pronounced upon those who call evil good and good evil, who exchange darkness for light and light for darkness, and who call bitter sweet and sweet bitter.
Think carefully about that warning. It describes a reversal of moral judgment. It is a condition in which people no longer merely commit wrongdoing but begin defending it, renaming it, and condemning those who refuse to participate in it.
And this is why people must return to God’s word rather than allowing the changing opinions of society to determine what is right.
God warned Israel repeatedly about what would happen when the people abandoned his commandments, embraced wickedness, and refused to listen when He called them back. He sent warnings. He sent messengers. He gave opportunities to repent. Yet there came times when the people continued in their rebellion until judgment arrived.
We would be foolish to believe that God has somehow become indifferent to the same things today.
In Ezekiel 18:23, God asks whether He takes pleasure in the death of the wicked. His answer is that He desires the wicked to turn from their ways and live.
This reveals something we must never lose sight of: God’s desire is repentance, not destruction. But the opportunity to repent must not be treated as though it will remain available indefinitely.
Second Peter 3:9 explains that God is patient, not wanting people to perish, but desiring them to come to repentance. Yet the same passage goes on to warn that the day of the Lord God will come.
People who use God’s patience as an excuse to delay repentance have misunderstood his mercy entirely.
What Yeshua warned us about the last days
Consider what Yeshua told his disciples about the days preceding his return. In Matthew 24, He spoke of deception, wars and reports of wars, famines, earthquakes, persecution, betrayal, increasing lawlessness, and the love of many growing cold.
Notice that He specifically warned about deception. He did not tell his followers that every person claiming to speak in his name would be speaking truth. He warned them not to be deceived.
He also said that because lawlessness would increase, the love of many would grow cold.
The Greek word used for lawlessness is anomia (ἀνομία). It describes conduct that disregards law and righteousness, particularly God’s law in this context.
This is not simply a matter of people breaking the laws of their governments. Governments themselves can establish unjust laws, and people can obey human regulations while standing in opposition to God’s righteousness. The ultimate standard remains what God has declared.
Yeshua also warned in Matthew 24:24 that false messiahs and false prophets would arise and perform great signs and wonders, seeking to deceive, if possible, even the chosen.
Do not imagine that deception will always look wicked. It may look religious. It may sound compassionate. It may be wrapped in promises of peace, prosperity, freedom, or human advancement. It may even use scripture.
That is why people must know what God actually says.
When Yeshua warned of increasing lawlessness, He also warned that the love of many would grow cold. Think about that. When people become increasingly selfish, cruel, and indifferent to the suffering of others, something terrible is happening to the condition of their hearts.
We must not become like the very people whose conduct God warns us about.
A religious appearance does not make a person right with God
Paul’s warning in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 describes people who have an outward appearance of Godliness while denying its power.
Read those words carefully. The warning is not limited to people who openly reject religion. It includes people who maintain an appearance of Godliness while their lives demonstrate something entirely different.
A person can speak religious words, attend religious gatherings, quote scripture, and still refuse to submit to God. A person can claim to belong to Yeshua while refusing to obey what Yeshua taught. In Matthew 7:21, Yeshua made this exceptionally clear. Not everyone who calls him Lord God will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of his father.
That should make every one of us examine our own lives.
It is not enough to say we believe. It is not enough to say we are Christians. It is not enough to point to the sins of our neighbors, our political opponents, or the people we see on television.
What about us?
Have we repented of our own wrongdoing? Have we forgiven those who have wronged us? Have we stopped deliberately participating in things God condemns? Are we honest in our dealings with others? Do we love what God loves and reject what He rejects? Are we following Yeshua’s teachings, or have we merely adopted a religious identity?
We have to stop measuring our righteousness (which no one has) by comparing ourselves with people who may be behaving worse than we are. God’s standard is not the worst person in our neighborhood. His standard is his own righteousness.
Yeshua said in Luke 13:3 that unless people repent, they will perish. He repeated that warning in Luke 13:5. He was not offering a suggestion for improving one’s religious life. He was warning people about the consequence of refusing to repent.

And repentance is not simply feeling sorry because we have been caught, because something unpleasant has happened, or because we are afraid of punishment. The Greek word metanoia describes a change of mind that brings a person to a changed direction. It means turning away from the former way and turning toward God.
The Hebrew scriptures also speak of returning to God. The Hebrew word shuv carries the meaning of turning back or returning. This is the language of the prophets when they called Israel to return to the Lord God.
God has never been interested in empty religious performances while people’s hearts remain far from him.
Isaiah 1:16-17 calls people to wash themselves, cease doing evil, learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression, and defend the vulnerable.
Notice that repentance involves what people actually do.
America is not exempt from God’s judgment. No country is exempt from God’s judgment
And what of the nations? What of America?
We should not assume that America has some special exemption from the principles God established for the nations. Our history, our wealth, our military strength, our constitutional government, and our past accomplishments cannot purchase immunity from his judgment.
Nor should we assume that because a nation has enjoyed blessings in the past, those blessings guarantee its future. God warned Israel about precisely that kind of presumption. Deuteronomy 8 reminds the people not to forget the Lord God when they become prosperous, lest they begin believing that their own strength and ability produced their success. A nation can become so consumed with its own power that it forgets the one who allowed it to prosper. And when that happens, the nation is in grave danger.
We have also witnessed the transfer of political power in our national government. Some celebrate this, others fear it, and still others believe their preferred political party will somehow be the answer to everything wrong with America.
But hear this:
No political party can save a nation that refuses to return to God.
If those who now hold authority use it to defend what God condemns, they will answer to him. If those who previously held authority did the same, they will answer to him also. The standard does not change with an election.
God is not a democrat or a republican. He does not bend his righteousness to accommodate political loyalties. Every elected official, every judge, every governor, every president, and every citizen is accountable to him.
The question is not which political party claims to have the answers. The question is whether the people and those governing them are willing to submit to God’s righteousness.
Every person will answer to God
But there is something even more urgent than the condition of America, and that is the condition of each individual soul.
You cannot repent on behalf of your governor. You cannot repent on behalf of your president. You cannot repent on behalf of congress. You cannot repent on behalf of your neighbors, your relatives, or your friends.
Each person must answer to God.
Romans 14:12 says that each of us will give an account of himself to God. Hebrews 4:13 declares that nothing in creation is hidden from his sight. Everything is exposed before the one to whom we must give account.
There will be no hiding behind political parties, family traditions, religious organizations, excuses, or the behavior of other people.
God knows what we have done. He knows what we have said. He knows what we have concealed. He knows the motives of the heart.
And He knows whether our profession of faith is genuine.
The book of Revelation repeatedly calls people to recognize that God sees the deeds of mankind. In Revelation 2 and 3, Yeshua addresses the assemblies and examines their works, their faithfulness, their compromise, and their failures. Some receive commendation. Others receive severe correction and warnings to repent.
Even those who consider themselves part of God’s people are not exempt from examination.
Revelation 22:12 records Yeshua’s declaration that He is coming and that his reward is with him, to give to each according to what He has done.
We must take that seriously.
Do not wait until tomorrow
We are not told to wait until the world becomes worse before we begin taking God seriously. We are not told to wait until a particular political leader takes office, until another election occurs, until another war begins, or until some particular sign appears on the horizon.
We are told to be ready.
In Matthew 24:42, Yeshua commanded his followers to watch because they do not know the day their Lord God is coming. In Matthew 24:44, He said to be ready because the son of man comes at an hour they do not expect.
Nobody has been given permission to postpone repentance.
And nobody should presume that because the Lord God has not yet brought judgment, He never will.
The hour is late. The world is not moving toward righteousness simply because mankind has developed greater technology, accumulated more knowledge, or built more powerful governments. Human advancement cannot replace a righteous heart.
We can send machines into space, study the smallest particles of creation, manipulate the very building blocks of life, and communicate across the entire world in seconds. Yet mankind still struggles to control greed, hatred, pride, violence, dishonesty, and the desire to dominate others.
Knowledge without righteousness does not make a person right with God.
The greatest need of this generation is not another political movement. It is repentance.
So i say this plainly:
Get right with God now.
Do not wait for tomorrow. Do not wait for the next election. Do not wait for the next crisis. Do not wait until you are frightened by something you see happening in the world.
If you know there is sin in your life, turn away from it. If you have wronged someone, make it right where possible. If you have been holding hatred in your heart, let it go. If you have been living dishonestly, stop. If you have been placing your confidence in men, governments, money, religious institutions, or worldly power, recognize where your confidence belongs.
Return to God.
Seek him with sincerity. Examine his word. Listen to what Yeshua taught. Obey the Father. Do not allow the world to persuade you that you can live however you please and still expect to stand before God without consequence.
And do not allow fear of what is coming to become greater than your reverence for the one who holds all things in his hands.
There is still a call to repentance. There is still an opportunity to turn to God. But no one has been promised an unlimited amount of time.
James 4:14 reminds us that our lives are like a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. We do not control tomorrow.
The final warning is not that you must become frightened of the world. It is that you must become rightly concerned about your standing before God.
When the time comes to stand before him, it will not matter which political party you supported, which politician you admired, which news commentator you believed, or which side of a political argument you defended. What will matter is whether you belonged to him, whether you turned from wickedness, whether you loved truth, whether you obeyed his son, and whether your life reflected the righteousness He requires.
The nations may rise and fall. Governments may change. Leaders may come and go. The proud may prosper for a season, and the wicked may appear to escape accountability for a time.
But God remains on his throne.
And the words of psalm 46:10 remain: be still, and know that i am God. He will be exalted among the nations. He will be exalted in the earth.
Do not mistake his silence for absence. Do not mistake his patience for approval. And do not mistake the passing of time for the absence of judgment.
The call is to repent. The time to respond is now.

Turn to God while you have the opportunity. Seek his mercy. Walk in his ways. Follow Yeshua.
For the day is coming when every person will stand before the righteous judge, and no human authority will be able to change his verdict.
✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
To every person who hears this warning: do not wait for another sign. Do not wait for another crisis. Do not wait until your life is falling apart. Get right with God now! Today is the day to turn back to him. Today is the day to abandon what is evil and seek what is righteous. No one knows how much time they have been given.
✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
Prayer
Holy Father, almighty God, creator of heaven and earth, the one who was, who is, and who is to come, i come before you in reverence, worship, and praise. You alone are righteous. You alone are holy. You are the king above every king, the judge above every earthly authority, and there is none who can stand against your power. The nations belong to you, the earth is yours, and every breath of mankind is in your hands.
Holy Father, the warning has been given, but there are still countless people who have not heard it, who do not understand the danger they are in, or who have hardened their hearts against you. I bring the people of this world before you now. Have mercy upon them. Let your truth penetrate hearts that have become hardened. Reach those who are deceived, those who are lost, those who have been taught to reject you, and those who have wandered so far that they no longer recognize the difference between righteousness and wickedness. Let them hear your call and respond before it is too late.
I ask you to remember those who are suffering because of the evil choices of others. Comfort those who mourn, protect the innocent, defend the helpless, and bring justice where justice has been denied. Let those who have been victimized by violence and oppression receive help, and let those responsible for such wickedness be brought to account.
Bring the leaders of every nation before the truth of your judgment. Expose corruption, dishonesty, oppression, and the shedding of innocent blood. Restrain those who use their authority to harm others, and give wisdom to those who are willing to govern justly. Let every ruler understand that human authority is temporary, but your authority is everlasting.
Father, let every person examine their own heart. Let no one assume that this warning is meant only for someone else. Every person will give an account before you. Remove pride, hatred, greed, cruelty, deception, and the desire to do evil. Teach mankind to love what is good, defend what is right, and walk humbly before you.
May your truth be heard throughout the earth. May those who speak your word do so faithfully, without twisting it to suit their own desires. Let people seek you with sincere hearts and measure all things by what you have spoken.
Holy Father, let the nations understand that you are God, that you establish and remove rulers, and that no kingdom or government can stand above your authority. Let the people understand that nations are accountable to you, and that turning away from you has consequences. May they turn from evil, seek righteousness, and return to you before the opportunity is gone.
The hour calls for repentance, not complacency. Let the world hear the warning and take it seriously. Let hearts be humbled, lives be changed, and people return to the almighty God while his mercy is being extended.
All praise, honor, and glory belong to you, Almighty God. May your will be done, and may your truth prevail throughout the earth.
In the name of your precious Son, Yeshua, amen.

Don’t take my word for it. Like the bereans in acts 17:11, search the scriptures daily to see whether these things are so. Open your bible, study God’s word for yourself, and ask the holy spirit to guide you into all truth. Don’t simply accept my conclusions. If what i’ve written agrees with scripture, hold fast to it. If it doesn’t, let God’s word be your final authority.
