THE COMMA “,” IN LUKE 23:43

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt you be with me in paradise.

Notice where the comma “,” is in this verse. Here, it shows Jesus saying to the thief, “Today, you will be with me in paradise”. This is NOT possible if we are to believe the truth of the Bible. No. This is a misplaced comma if ever there was one! If Jesus was in the grave three (3) days and three (3) nights as we are told He was in many place in the Bible and in history.

Matt 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matt 27:62-64 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulcher be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

Mark 8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

How would it be possible for the thief to be with Jesus in paradise “To day” if this were the case? It’s not.

Another thing, all who die, are dead until the judgment, which won’t come for a while yet.

1 Cor 15:18-23 Then they also which are fallen asleep (dead) in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

Now, when we take the comma “,” and put it in the correct place, AFTER the word “To day”, then it would make perfect sense.

In other words, what Jesus was saying is…. “Today, I am saying to you, you shalt be with me in paradise eventually. Not now, but in the sweet and by, you will”; “I am saying this to you today.” NOT “today you will be with me in paradise.

Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee to day, you shall be with me in paradise.
